You-Pick-It Farms

You-pick-it farms are a fun way to explore the local harvest, connect with the land, and enjoy the simple pleasure of gathering fruit straight from the source.

Fruit Basket Orchards is a 7.5 acre you pick it farm. Opening in early July, pick off your own sweet cherries and enjoy the sight of other ripening crops, including apricots, raspberries, nectarines, and the 19 varieties of peaches, all ready to harvest by the end of July. Starting in mid-late August plums, grapes and apples are ready for picking. There are over 20 options of apple varieties so broaden your horizons and find a new flavor profile that catches your fancy. The price per pound is just under retail so you save money while having fun in the outdoors. There is also a wash station so you can try your mouthwatering selection before heading to the next adventure.

Peachfork Orchards & Vineyards offers a family farm experience or wine tasting where you can pick the flight! In the orchard, you can pick juicy peaches in August and early September or try delicious apples, pears and pluots (a mix of a plum and an apricot!) starting in late August through October. Meander through the orchard and find your perfect sweet snack or relax in the winery with crisp wines made from grapes that are grown on the farm!

 

Unique Farm Activities and Tours

For a unique farm experience, check out Belli Fiori Lavender Farm. Saunter through stunning rows of colorful lavender and relax as the soothing fragrance surrounds you. Stop by their shop and pick up an array of aromatherapy, culinary and body care products, from floral soaps to insect repellent and pillow sprays, all lavender scented. You can also take home a dried bundle of lavender, $12.00, from the field, or pick it yourself for just $10.00 per bundle. The family also owns Highlands Distillery which is nestled within the farm. Take your experience to the next level, and try out the Provence Lemon Lavender Cooler with vodka, lemon juice, muddled blackberries, lavender syrup and a lavender garnish.

Grand Junction has other options if fruit picking isn’t your ideal farm adventure. Ever imagine walking an alpaca on a leash? At Suncrest Orchard Alpacas and Fiber Works, you can trek through the orchard with an alpaca buddy and saunter through a tunnel of peach trees together. Afterwards, take a mill tour and learn how your new friend’s fiber is processed and transformed into yarns and other products. After your adventure, stop in the Farm Shop and pick up some soft natural yarn, dryer balls, socks, or potholders.

Pear Blossom Farms has been growing produce since the 1950’s, so everything has been passed down through generations. The farm creates a wide variety of products in small batches, ensuring quality with every item. Call to schedule a tour to see the behind-the-scenes of harvesting and walk through their orchard with a small basket and pick your own fruit. Stop into the sampling kitchen and try Dad’s Jalapeño sauces, flavored Red, Green, Chipotle, and Peach! Their jellies, fruit syrups, vinaigrette salad dressings, and fruit butters are also very popular.

Starting on July 10, 2025, you can stroll through Market on Main Street every Thursday from to 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm and pick up local produce. It’s not quite the same as pulling it off the branch yourself, but it’s still, fresh, local and delicious!
