About GJYO

Created to give young musicians* an opportunity to experience an orchestral setting on the Western Slope of Colorado -and more specifically within the Grand Valley- the Grand Junction Youth Orchestra is open to students of any age who have completed Suzuki Book 1 (or equivalent). There are three tiers in the GJYO, allowing beginner musicians an opportunity to experience orchestra for the first time and play with more experienced musicians. The second and third tier play alongside the beginners but also fill out their repertoire with more challenging pieces.

This orchestra is open to all and is a great opportunity specifically for those students who do not currently have an orchestra program available to them: charter schools, private schools, home educators, & public schools without an orchestra.

If you or your child are interested in joining the orchestra, please send GJYO your information via our contact form and we will respond to you as soon as possible. The cost for participation is $80 per musician. There is a $20 sibling discount for subsequent family members.

*Although the name of the orchestra is Grand Junction Youth Orchestra, it is open to musicians of all ages… in other words, the musicians of the GJYO are young at heart.
